Demand Media Accountability and Transparency on Reporting Russian Election Interference

In light of newly declassified documents published by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, it has become clear that the original intelligence assessment on Russian election interference was subject to internal pressures and manipulation. Despite these revelations, NBC News and other major networks continue to reference outdated and contested narratives without addressing the new evidence.

This lack of transparency undermines public trust and hinders informed democratic participation. Media organizations have a responsibility to provide comprehensive and truthful reporting, especially on issues as critical as foreign interference in U.S. elections.

We demand that NBC News and other media outlets:

• Report on the contents and implications of the declassified documents.
• Correct previous coverage that omitted or misrepresented these facts.
• Implement stronger editorial standards to prevent the spread of misinformation.
• Engage in open dialogue with the public about their reporting practices.
