Demand an End to Unjust Tariffs and Anti-Immigrant Policies Targeting India

Target: President of the United States, U.S. Trade Representative, and Department of Homeland Security

Goal: We call on the U.S. administration to immediately rescind punitive tariffs on Indian goods, end discriminatory policies against Indian nationals, and recommit to a relationship based on mutual respect and cooperation.

Recent actions by the U.S. government have undermined decades of progress in building a strong partnership with India. Draconian tariffs, inflammatory rhetoric, and anti-immigrant measures threaten not only economic cooperation but also the values of democracy and international solidarity.

The United States and India have long shared a partnership rooted in democratic values, economic collaboration, and the pursuit of peace in the Indo-Pacific. However, recent decisions by the U.S. government—including the imposition of steep tariffs on Indian goods, inflammatory public statements, and increased deportations and harassment of Indian students—have severely damaged this relationship.

These actions not only harm working people and students in both countries, but also undermine efforts to build a more just and equitable global order. The targeting of India for its independent foreign policy and economic choices, while ignoring similar actions by other nations, reveals a double standard that weakens America's credibility on the world stage.

We urge the U.S. government to reverse these counterproductive policies, engage in good-faith diplomacy, and uphold its commitments to international cooperation and human rights.
