Target: President of the United States, US Trade Representative, and the US Department of State
Goal: We call on the US government to end punitive tariffs on Indian goods, respect India's sovereign right to manage its energy needs, and pursue diplomatic solutions that promote peace and multilateral cooperation.
The US administration has imposed additional tariffs on Indian goods, citing India's continued purchase of Russian oil. This move, coupled with public statements pressuring India to align exclusively with US foreign policy interests, disregards India's sovereignty and the global context of energy trade. While the US and EU continue to engage in commerce with Russia, singling out India is hypocritical and undermines trust between nations.
India faces complex geopolitical realities and energy needs. Punitive economic measures and threats to strategic partnerships do not foster cooperation or peace. Instead, they risk pushing India towards closer ties with other powers and destabilizing regional diplomacy.
We urge the US government to adopt a fair and diplomatic approach that respects India's autonomy and promotes constructive engagement on issues of energy, trade, and security.
