The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions. As President Zelenskiy and European leaders meet with President Trump in Washington, there are alarming signals that the U.S. administration may push for a settlement that favors Russia’s interests, including the surrender of Ukrainian territory in the Donetsk region.
President Zelenskiy has made it clear that Ukraine cannot and will not accept a deal that involves giving up its land or compromising its sovereignty. Any peace agreement must be based on the current front lines, not on the demands of an aggressor. The Ukrainian people deserve security guarantees that will prevent further invasions and respect their right to self-determination.
We urge all leaders present at the summit to reject any proposal that rewards military aggression or sacrifices Ukraine’s future. The international community must stand united in support of a fair and lasting peace, not one dictated by force.
