Target: US President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelensky, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and attending European leaders
Goal: Urge President Trump, President Zelensky, and European leaders to reject any peace deal that involves ceding Ukrainian territory to Russia, and to prioritize a just and lasting peace based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and self-determination.
The ongoing war in Ukraine has caused immense suffering, displacement, and loss of life. As President Zelensky meets with President Trump and European leaders in Washington, there is growing concern that the United States may pressure Ukraine to accept a peace deal that includes ceding territory to Russia. Such a deal would legitimize aggression, violate international law, and set a dangerous precedent for the future of global security.
Crimea and the regions of Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk, and Zaporizhzhia were annexed by Russia through force and sham referenda. The people of Ukraine have the right to determine their own future without foreign coercion or occupation. Any peace agreement must be rooted in respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
We call on all parties to reject any settlement that would reward military aggression and to instead pursue a peace process that ensures justice, accountability, and the protection of human rights. The international community must stand with Ukraine and uphold the rule of law, not capitulate to the demands of an aggressor.
