Target: U.S. Congress, President of the United States, and international policymakers
Goal: Urge U.S. leaders and the international community to support Ukraine’s right to reclaim all its territory, including Crimea, and to pursue NATO membership if it chooses.
Former President Donald Trump recently declared that Ukraine could end the war with Russia "almost immediately" if it abandoned efforts to reclaim Crimea and ceased pursuing NATO membership. This stance disregards Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders and the will of its people. Crimea was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, and Ukraine’s right to choose its alliances is fundamental to its sovereignty.
Accepting Russia’s annexation of Crimea and denying Ukraine the right to join NATO sets a dangerous precedent for international law and emboldens future acts of aggression. We must not allow powerful nations to dictate the fate of smaller countries or undermine their autonomy.
We call on U.S. leaders and the global community to stand firmly with Ukraine. Support Ukraine’s right to full territorial integrity and its freedom to determine its own security arrangements, including NATO membership.
