Target: U.S. Department of State, USAID, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio
Goal: Prevent the destruction of contraceptives and ensure their delivery to communities in need.
The Trump administration's decision to destroy $10 million in contraceptives and reproductive health supplies, rather than allow their purchase by international organizations, is a grave injustice. These supplies were meant to support reproductive health and family planning for millions of people in Africa, where access to contraception is often limited and maternal mortality rates remain high.
Blocking these supplies due to the expanded Mexico City Policy not only undermines global health efforts, but also disregards the rights and needs of women and families. Family planning saves lives, empowers women, and supports sustainable development. Destroying these resources is wasteful, harmful, and sets a dangerous precedent for international aid.
We call on the U.S. government to immediately halt the planned destruction of these contraceptives, allow their transfer to organizations ready to distribute them, and end policies that restrict access to essential reproductive health care worldwide.
