Target: Government of India, Government of the People's Republic of China, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval
Goal: We call on the Indian and Chinese governments to commit to concrete steps for demilitarization, transparent dialogue, and the safeguarding of civil liberties in the border regions.
The ongoing military standoff and heightened troop presence along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh have created a climate of tension, fear, and instability for local communities and the wider region. While diplomatic dialogue has resumed, both sides continue to maintain tens of thousands of troops along the contested border, risking further escalation and undermining prospects for lasting peace.
We believe that true security can only be achieved through demilitarization, transparent negotiations, and the protection of human rights for all people living in the border areas. The recent revival of dialogue mechanisms and the resumption of initiatives like the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are positive steps, but much more needs to be done to ensure peace, justice, and stability.
We urge both governments to seize this moment to move beyond militarized posturing, prioritize the well-being of border communities, and set an example for peaceful conflict resolution in the region.
