Target: US President, US Congress, European Union leaders, and international negotiators
Goal: We call on the US government and European leaders to firmly oppose any peace deal that forces Ukraine to cede territory under duress, and to uphold the principle that borders cannot be changed by force.
As President Zelensky prepares to meet with US President Trump and a coalition of European leaders, there is growing concern that Ukraine may be pressured into relinquishing territory currently occupied by Russia. President Trump’s public statements suggest that Ukraine should abandon its claim to Crimea and potentially other regions, in exchange for uncertain security guarantees and without reciprocal demands on Russia.
This approach not only disregards Ukraine’s right to self-determination, but also emboldens future acts of aggression by signaling that territorial conquest can be rewarded. European leaders and President Zelensky have made clear that borders must not be changed by force, and any negotiations must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and the will of its people.
We urge all parties involved in peace talks to reject any proposal that legitimizes territorial theft, and to instead pursue a just and lasting peace based on international law and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
