Demand a Just and Lasting Peace for Ukraine—No Forced Territorial Concessions

Related Article: Zelensky, European leaders head to US for talks on peace deal terms | International - bssnews.net - Monday, August 18, 2025, 12:28:22 AM Eastern Daylight Time

Target: US President Donald Trump, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and attending European leaders

Goal: Call on President Trump, European leaders, and all negotiating parties to reject any peace deal that forces Ukraine to cede territory against its will, and to uphold international law, democracy, and the right to self-determination.

As world leaders gather in Washington to discuss the future of Ukraine, there is mounting concern that the United States may pressure Ukraine into accepting unjust territorial concessions to Russia. We must ensure that peace talks respect Ukraine's sovereignty and the rights of its people.

The upcoming talks in Washington between President Zelensky, President Trump, and European leaders come at a critical moment for Ukraine and for the principles of international law. Reports indicate that the US administration is considering supporting Russian demands for Ukrainian territory—territory that Russia has not even fully captured through force. Such a move would set a dangerous precedent, rewarding aggression and undermining the sovereignty of Ukraine and the security of all nations.

We are alarmed by the prospect of a peace deal that disregards the will and rights of the Ukrainian people, and by the exclusion of Ukraine from key negotiations. Peace must not be achieved through capitulation or the forced surrender of land. Instead, the international community must stand firm against aggression and support a just, sustainable resolution that respects Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

We urge all leaders at the Washington summit to:

History shows that appeasement of aggression only leads to further instability. We demand a peace process rooted in justice, democracy, and respect for the sovereignty of all nations.
