As the international community seeks a path to end Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, we are alarmed by reports that the latest round of negotiations may include demands for Ukraine to cede parts of its territory to Russia. This approach would reward aggression, violate international law, and set a dangerous precedent for future conflicts.
Ukraine has the right to territorial integrity and to determine its own future, including its relationships with the European Union and NATO. Any peace deal that forces Ukraine to abandon these rights is unjust and unsustainable.
We urge European leaders, President Zelensky, and the US government to stand firm against pressure to accept territorial concessions. Instead, we call for a peace process that centers Ukrainian voices, upholds international law, and ensures real security and justice for all affected communities.
