Goal: We call on US, European, and Ukrainian leaders to ensure any security guarantees for Ukraine are transparent, binding, and uphold Ukraine's right to self-determination—rejecting any territorial concessions or opaque deals that undermine peace and justice.
As discussions progress around a potential peace deal for Ukraine, recent reports indicate that Russian President Vladimir Putin has, for the first time, signaled openness to US and European security guarantees for Ukraine resembling NATO's Article 5. While this is a notable development, the lack of concrete details and enforceable mechanisms leaves Ukraine's future security in question.
We are deeply concerned about any negotiations that occur behind closed doors, especially those that may pressure Ukraine into territorial concessions or dilute its sovereignty. Peace must not come at the expense of justice, democracy, or the rights of the Ukrainian people. True security guarantees must be transparent, democratically accountable, and fully respect Ukraine's internationally recognized borders.
We urge all parties to center Ukrainian voices in these talks, reject any forced land swaps, and commit to robust, enforceable protections that deter future aggression. Anything less risks emboldening authoritarianism and undermining the principles of international law.
