Demand Respectful and Principled US Support for Ukraine

Target: US Congress and the White House

Goal: We call on US leaders to maintain principled, respectful, and consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and democratic future, and to reject intimidation and political grandstanding in international diplomacy.

Recent events in the Oval Office have raised serious concerns about the tone and direction of US engagement with Ukraine. President Zelensky’s return to Washington comes in the wake of a highly publicized and confrontational meeting with former President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, during which US support was called into question.

During a February 28 Oval Office meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky faced public beratement from former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, who accused him of ingratitude for US aid and pressured him to quickly negotiate an end to the war with Russia. This public spectacle not only undermined Ukraine’s struggle for sovereignty but also sent a troubling signal to authoritarian regimes worldwide.

We urge US leaders to reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine’s self-determination and to conduct foreign policy with dignity and respect. The United States must not use its support as a tool for public humiliation or political theater, but rather as a means to uphold international law and democratic values.
