Target: President Donald Trump, U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)

Goal: Urge President Trump and the Department of Justice to fully legalize marijuana at the federal level, expunge past convictions, and prioritize public health and equity over corporate profits.

The ongoing criminalization of marijuana continues to harm millions of Americans, disproportionately impacting communities of color and perpetuating unjust incarceration. As the federal government considers reclassifying marijuana, we must push for comprehensive legalization and restorative justice.

For decades, marijuana prohibition has fueled mass incarceration, devastated families, and diverted resources from real public health solutions. Scientific research and the lived experiences of millions show that cannabis is safer than alcohol and has significant medical benefits. Yet, federal law continues to criminalize its use, enabling discriminatory policing and blocking economic opportunities for marginalized communities.

Recent discussions about reclassifying marijuana as a Schedule III drug are not enough. Partial reform risks entrenching the power of large corporations while leaving behind those most harmed by prohibition. True justice means full legalization, automatic expungement of past convictions, and reinvestment in communities affected by the war on drugs. We demand a policy rooted in science, compassion, and equity—not fearmongering or corporate influence.
