Target: US Secretary of State, US President, Congressional Foreign Relations Committees
Goal: We call on the United States government and all parties involved in negotiations to center diplomacy, uphold international law, and ensure that any peace process in Ukraine prioritizes human rights, self-determination, and accountability.
The recent summit between US and Russian leaders highlighted the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution to the war in Ukraine. While high-level talks are necessary, peace cannot be achieved through backroom deals or by pressuring Ukraine to accept unjust concessions. True peace requires the protection of Ukrainian sovereignty, the withdrawal of occupying forces, and the involvement of civil society in negotiations.
We urge the US government to reject any settlement that rewards aggression or undermines the rights of the Ukrainian people. The US must use its influence to push for a ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and a transparent peace process that includes Ukrainian voices and international human rights monitors. Sanctions should remain in place until there is verifiable progress towards these goals.
Diplomacy must not be a cover for appeasement. We demand a principled approach that stands with those most affected by this war and upholds the values of democracy and human rights.
