Goal: Urge US and European leaders to reject any peace deal that forces Ukraine to surrender its territory or its right to self-determination.
The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in immense suffering, displacement, and loss of life. Now, proposals are emerging from high-level US officials that would pressure Ukraine to accept Russia’s terms for ending the conflict—terms that include surrendering Crimea, abandoning NATO membership, and ceding parts of the Donbas region. These demands echo the conditions set by Russian President Vladimir Putin and would legitimize the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory.
Forcing Ukraine to accept these terms is not a path to peace, but a capitulation to aggression. It sets a dangerous precedent that borders can be changed by force, and that powerful nations can dictate the futures of smaller ones. True peace must be based on justice, respect for international law, and the right of all nations to determine their own alliances and territorial integrity.
We call on the US and European leaders meeting with President Zelensky to stand firm against any agreement that sacrifices Ukraine’s sovereignty. Instead, they must support a fair and lasting peace that upholds Ukraine’s rights and deters future acts of aggression.
