Target: Major U.S. media outlets and public officials
Goal: We call for responsible, transparent, and fact-based reporting from major media outlets on matters of international diplomacy, and for public officials to refrain from spreading misinformation and attacking the free press.
In the wake of the recent summit between U.S. and Russian leaders, media coverage and political commentary have been rife with sensationalism and partisan attacks. Instead of fostering informed debate and critical analysis, much of the coverage has focused on personal attacks, unsubstantiated claims, and the perpetuation of misinformation. This not only erodes public trust in both the media and government, but also threatens the foundations of a healthy democracy.
We demand that major media outlets commit to transparent, evidence-based reporting on international affairs, and that public officials cease using their platforms to spread falsehoods or undermine the role of a free press. The public deserves accurate information and a respectful discourse, especially on issues as critical as international diplomacy and peace negotiations.
