Goal: Ensure that peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are transparent, uphold Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and center the needs and rights of the Ukrainian people over geopolitical bargaining.
The unprecedented gathering of world leaders in Washington to deliberate Ukraine’s future carries enormous stakes—not only for Ukraine, but for the principles of democracy and self-determination worldwide. Recent reports indicate that crucial decisions about Ukraine’s sovereignty and security are being discussed without full transparency or meaningful Ukrainian participation, particularly in the wake of the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska and the exclusion of President Zelensky from key talks.
We are deeply concerned that any peace deal must not be negotiated over the heads of the Ukrainian people, nor should it be shaped by external powers seeking to advance their own interests. The Ukrainian constitution prohibits the ceding of territory, and any agreement must honor Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the will of its people. Furthermore, security guarantees must be robust, enforceable, and developed in partnership with Ukraine and its allies, not imposed by outside actors.
We call on all leaders involved to commit to a transparent, inclusive, and just peace process that centers Ukrainian voices, upholds international law, and seeks a sustainable end to the conflict that respects human rights and democratic principles.
