Target: U.S. President, U.S. Congress, European Union leaders, United Nations Secretary-General
Goal: To urge world leaders, including the U.S. administration, European governments, and the United Nations, to reject any settlement that forces Ukraine to surrender its territory or compromise its right to self-determination.
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned by reports that recent negotiations at the Alaska summit have included proposals for Ukraine to cede significant portions of its eastern regions to Russia in exchange for vague security guarantees and a partial freeze of hostilities. Such deals would legitimize the illegal use of force, set a dangerous precedent for international relations, and betray the Ukrainian people’s right to determine their own future.
Ukraine has already endured immense suffering from Russia’s full-scale invasion, daily missile strikes, and occupation of sovereign territory. Demanding that Ukraine withdraw from Donetsk and Luhansk, recognize Russian sovereignty over Crimea, and accept restrictions on its alliances and language policies is unacceptable and violates international law.
We call on all democratic governments and international organizations to stand firm against any attempt to force Ukraine into an unjust settlement. Peace must be based on the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, accountability for war crimes, and respect for the Ukrainian people’s democratic choices.
