Restore Humanitarian Medical Visas for Injured Gaza Children

Related Article: Trump stops Gaza visas after viral Laura Loomer posts; Aid groups say it blocks kids hurt in Israel-Hamas war from U.S. care - kulr8.com - Sunday, August 17, 2025, 8:26:44 PM Eastern Daylight Time

Target: U.S. Department of State, President of the United States

Goal: We call on the U.S. Department of State and the administration to immediately reinstate and expand humanitarian medical visas for injured children and their caregivers from Gaza.

The recent halt on U.S. visas for injured children from Gaza denies lifesaving medical care to the most vulnerable victims of war. This policy blocks children and their caregivers from accessing treatment unavailable in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict and devastated healthcare infrastructure.

The U.S. government has temporarily stopped issuing visitor and humanitarian medical visas for individuals from Gaza, following pressure from political commentators and social media campaigns. This decision comes as thousands of Palestinian children have been injured in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, with many requiring urgent medical care that is unavailable in Gaza due to the destruction of hospitals and medical infrastructure.

Organizations such as Heal Palestine and the Palestine Children's Relief Fund have been facilitating temporary medical visas for children and their caregivers, ensuring that these children can receive critical treatment in the United States before returning home. These programs are not refugee resettlement initiatives and are funded by private donations, not U.S. tax dollars.

Blocking access to medical care for wounded and sick children is a violation of basic humanitarian principles and medical neutrality. It places politics above the lives of innocent children, many of whom have lost limbs or face life-threatening injuries. The World Health Organization estimates that over 14,800 Palestinians injured in the Gaza war need care outside the territory.

We urge the U.S. government to reverse this policy, uphold its commitment to humanitarian values, and allow injured children and their caregivers to access the medical treatment they desperately need.
