Demand Real Security and Sovereignty for Ukraine—No Forced Territorial Concessions

As the war in Ukraine continues to claim thousands of lives, recent reports indicate that US and Russian leaders are pressuring Ukraine to accept a peace deal that would require ceding large portions of its eastern territory. Such a deal would legitimize aggression, undermine international law, and set a dangerous precedent for the world.

Security guarantees that are not backed by real, practical commitments have failed Ukraine before. In 1994, Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for promises that were not honored when Russia invaded Crimea and later launched a full-scale war. Now, proposals for 'Article 5-like' protections and vague security assurances are being floated as substitutes for genuine NATO protection and without a guarantee of Ukraine's full sovereignty.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and demand that European and US leaders:

• Reject any peace agreement that forces Ukraine to surrender its land or sovereignty.
• Provide real, enforceable security guarantees developed in full partnership with Ukraine.
• Ensure that no negotiations over Ukrainian territory take place without Ukraine's full participation and consent.
• Support an immediate ceasefire as a precondition to peace talks, not as a bargaining chip.
• Hold Russia accountable for its aggression and ensure that any agreement includes meaningful consequences for violations.

Ukraine's borders must not be changed by force. We call on world leaders to stand up for justice, peace, and the right of all people to determine their own future.
