Demand Fair and Nonpartisan Redistricting to Protect Our Democracy

Across the country, partisan politicians are manipulating congressional districts to lock in power and rig the outcomes of future elections. Texas has led the charge, redrawing maps in the middle of the decade to secure more seats for one party, setting off a dangerous domino effect in other states. This is not just a Texas problem—states like Missouri, Ohio, Florida, and Kansas are following suit, while states with independent commissions face obstacles to fair representation.

Partisan gerrymandering distorts democracy, allowing politicians to choose their voters instead of voters choosing their representatives. This practice leads to uncompetitive elections, disenfranchises communities, and deepens political polarization. The majority of Americans support fair maps and transparent redistricting processes, but entrenched interests continue to undermine these principles for short-term political gain.

We call on Congress and state governments to enact strong reforms that guarantee fair representation for all. Every voter deserves an equal voice, and every district should be drawn with transparency, public input, and respect for communities—not partisan advantage.
