Target: President Donald Trump, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and the US Congress
Goal: Ensure that any agreements regarding Ukraine’s security and sovereignty are made transparently, with Ukraine’s direct involvement, and uphold the principles of self-determination and international law.
We are deeply concerned by reports that the recent US-Russia summit in Alaska produced proposals for 'Article 5-like' security guarantees for Ukraine without Ukraine’s full participation at the negotiating table. While any progress towards peace is welcome, it is essential that the Ukrainian people and their democratically elected government are the primary decision-makers regarding their own security and territorial integrity.
History has shown that peace agreements imposed without the consent of those most affected are unsustainable and unjust. The principle of 'nothing about us without us' must guide all international negotiations affecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and future. We call on the US government to ensure transparency, uphold Ukraine’s right to self-determination, and reject any deals made behind closed doors or without Ukraine’s explicit agreement.
