Target: President Donald Trump, Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the U.S. Congress
Goal: We urge the U.S. administration to uphold transparency, prioritize Ukrainian self-determination, and ensure that any negotiations or deals are made in the interest of peace, democracy, and human rights.
As President Trump and Vice President Vance meet with Ukrainian President Zelensky ahead of crucial talks with European leaders, we are alarmed by reports of past criticism and pressure directed at Ukraine’s leadership. The subsequent meeting between President Trump and Russian President Putin, held in Alaska, further signals a troubling shift in U.S. policy that could undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty and embolden Russian aggression.
European partners have expressed deep fears that the U.S. is moving away from a principled stance on Ukraine’s right to self-determination. The American people deserve full transparency and accountability regarding any negotiations that could impact the lives and futures of millions of Ukrainians. We must not allow backroom deals or political maneuvering to override the urgent need for a just and lasting peace that upholds international law and human rights.
We call on the U.S. administration to publicly commit to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, to consult with Congress and the public before any major policy shifts, and to ensure that any agreements reached are transparent, democratic, and respect the will of the Ukrainian people.
