Target: Speaker of the House, House Ethics Committee, and Congressional Leadership

Goal: We call on Congressional leadership and the House Ethics Committee to formally censure Rep. Ogles and reaffirm their commitment to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

Recently, Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee suggested on social media that former President Donald Trump should be allowed to serve unlimited terms and be given unchecked power. Such statements directly contradict the U.S. Constitution and threaten the democratic principles upon which our nation was founded.

On June 8, 2024, Rep. Andy Ogles publicly advocated for former President Donald Trump to be given a third term and to 'run D.C. as long as he wants.' This statement is not only factually incorrect—since the 22nd Amendment clearly limits presidents to two terms—but also undermines the very foundation of American democracy.

Members of Congress swear an oath to uphold the Constitution. Publicly calling for the abandonment of constitutional term limits is a dangerous precedent and cannot go unchallenged. We must send a clear message that elected officials are accountable to the people and the Constitution, not to any one individual or party.

We urge Congressional leaders to take immediate action to censure Rep. Ogles and reaffirm their commitment to democratic norms and constitutional governance.
