Goal: We call for a full, independent investigation into the conduct of intelligence agencies and executive officials during the 2016 and 2017 investigations, and for the implementation of robust safeguards to prevent political abuse of investigative powers.
Recent reports have highlighted troubling claims regarding the use of intelligence agencies and executive authority in the investigation of political opponents. Allegations that government officials may have directed or influenced investigations for political purposes undermine public trust in our institutions and threaten the foundations of democracy.
We believe that no one is above the law and that government power must never be used to target political adversaries. To restore public confidence and ensure accountability, we demand a thorough, independent inquiry into these matters, and the establishment of clear, enforceable protections against the politicization of law enforcement and intelligence operations.
