President Donald Trump's directive to deploy hundreds of additional National Guard members to D.C. as part of a 'crackdown on crime' risks further militarizing our city, potentially escalating tensions and undermining trust between residents and those tasked with public safety. The presence of armed troops in public spaces can intimidate residents, suppress free expression, and disproportionately impact marginalized communities.
