Target: U.S. Department of State, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Donald Trump
Goal: We urge the State Department to immediately reinstate the medical-humanitarian visa program for children from Gaza and ensure that lifesaving medical care is not denied due to political pressure or unsubstantiated claims.
In the wake of public pressure and unverified accusations, the U.S. State Department has suspended the issuance of visitor visas for people from Gaza, halting a critical lifeline for children requiring urgent medical care. Organizations like HEAL Palestine have facilitated the safe, temporary transfer of severely injured children to the U.S. for treatment unavailable in Gaza, with all patients and their families returning home after care is completed. This program is not a refugee resettlement initiative; it is a humanitarian effort to save lives in a region where the health system has been devastated by ongoing conflict.
The World Health Organization reports that over 14,800 patients in Gaza still need lifesaving care that cannot be provided locally. Blocking access to medical visas in response to unfounded claims not only endangers children but also sets a dangerous precedent of politicizing humanitarian aid. We call on the State Department and all relevant officials to uphold our nation's values and restore access to medical treatment for Gaza's most vulnerable.
