Goal: We call for the immediate end to the federal occupation of D.C., restoration of local control over policing, and the reversal of policies that harm our city's economy and communities.

The recent federal takeover of Washington, D.C.'s police force and the deployment of the National Guard have devastated local businesses and tourism. This unprecedented action has led to a sharp decline in restaurant reservations and threatens the livelihoods of thousands of workers in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

Since the announcement of the federal takeover of D.C.'s police department and the deployment of the National Guard, our city has seen a dramatic drop in business activity. Restaurant reservations have plummeted by over 30% compared to last year, just as D.C.'s hospitality industry was beginning to recover from the pandemic. Tourism is also suffering, with projections of over $12 billion in lost international spending and the potential loss of 230,000 jobs nationwide.

These actions not only undermine D.C.'s right to self-governance but also create a climate of fear and uncertainty that drives away visitors and customers. Federal forces are patrolling areas with little crime, disrupting daily life and damaging the reputation of our city. We demand an immediate end to these harmful policies and the restoration of local control to protect our economy, our workers, and our communities.
