Target: U.S. State Department, President Joe Biden, NATO member governments
Goal: Urge U.S. and allied negotiators to reject any settlement that rewards Russia with Ukrainian land, and to support Ukraine’s right to self-determination and security.
The war in Ukraine has already claimed tens of thousands of lives, displaced millions, and devastated communities. As international talks seek solutions, some voices suggest that ceding Ukrainian territory to Russia might be an acceptable compromise. We reject this approach. Any settlement that rewards aggression and violates Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders undermines global security and sets a dangerous precedent.
Ukraine’s sovereignty and the will of its people must be respected. The Budapest Memorandum and other agreements promised Ukraine security in exchange for giving up nuclear weapons. The world must honor those commitments and stand against imperialist expansion.
We call on the U.S. government, NATO, and all negotiating parties to support a just peace—one that upholds Ukraine’s territorial integrity, human rights, and the principles of international law. No deals should be made over the heads of the Ukrainian people, and no territory should be handed to Russia as a reward for its war of aggression.
