Target: Attorney General Pam Bondi, Mayor of Washington, DC, and the U.S. Department of Justice
Goal: We call for an immediate review of federal intervention in DC policing, transparency in arrest data, and the establishment of community oversight to ensure justice and accountability.
Over the past week, nearly 70 people were arrested in a single night in Washington, DC, as part of a federal crackdown on crime. In total, more than 300 arrests have been made since the National Guard was deployed and local police were federalized. While officials cite the seizure of illegal firearms and arrests of suspects, these actions raise serious questions about due process, the militarization of policing, and the disproportionate impact on Black, Brown, and low-income communities.
Federal intervention in local policing undermines community trust and can lead to violations of civil rights. We demand transparency in the arrest process, public release of demographic and charge data, and the establishment of a civilian oversight board to review all federal and local law enforcement actions in DC.
