London is a city built on diversity, tolerance, and mutual respect. Recent remarks by US President Donald Trump have not only insulted our Mayor but have also targeted entire communities, including Black people, women, LGBTQ+ people, Muslims, and immigrants. Such rhetoric risks emboldening hate and moving dangerous ideas from the fringes to the mainstream.
We are concerned that these comments could inadvertently radicalise individuals and create an atmosphere where minorities feel less safe and less welcome. We must not allow our city to be used as a political football in a culture war that divides rather than unites.
We urge our elected officials to take a clear stand: to welcome all who contribute to our city, to celebrate our diversity as a strength, and to reject any attempts by visiting leaders to undermine these values. Let us show the world that London stands for inclusion, dignity, and equality for all.
