Steel and aluminium manufacturers are already facing import taxes of up to 50%, threatening thousands of jobs and the future of local industry. These tariffs are not just numbers—they are real threats to workers' livelihoods, regional communities, and Australia's ability to chart its own economic future.
Despite these urgent concerns, the government has so far failed to secure an exemption or meaningful relief for Australian industries. We cannot afford to let multinational interests and foreign leaders dictate the terms of our prosperity. It is time for the Australian Government to stand up for working people, defend our industries, and ensure that trade deals put people before profits.
