Target: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Donald Trump, and international summit negotiators
Goal: We call on US leaders and international negotiators to prioritize a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine—one that respects Ukraine’s territorial integrity, self-determination, and the voices of those most affected by the war.
The recent summit in Alaska and subsequent statements from US officials have signaled a willingness to pressure Ukraine into a quick settlement with Russia, even if it means giving up sovereign territory. This is unacceptable. Any peace agreement must be based on Ukraine’s right to self-determination and the principle of territorial integrity as enshrined in international law.
Forcing Ukraine to surrender land to Russia would legitimize aggression and occupation, endanger millions of civilians, and embolden future violations of international norms. We urge the US and its allies to stand firmly for justice and human rights, and to ensure that any ceasefire or settlement is negotiated transparently, with full participation by Ukrainian civil society and those directly impacted by the war.
Peace is only meaningful if it is just. The US must not trade away the rights and futures of Ukrainians for diplomatic expediency.
