Target: Arizona Public Service, Salt River Project, Tucson Electric Power, Arizona State Legislature, U.S. Congress members representing Arizona
Goal: Urge Arizona's public utilities and elected officials to halt the 600-mile gas pipeline project and prioritize investment in renewable energy infrastructure and the protection of our natural lands.
For the first time in U.S. history, renewable energy sources have outpaced coal for seven consecutive months. Yet, Arizona's utilities are planning a massive new gas pipeline that would tie our state to fossil fuels for generations. This project is not only environmentally reckless—it is economically shortsighted, as solar and wind are now cheaper and faster to deploy than new fossil fuel infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the rollback of protections for Arizona's roadless wildlands threatens irreplaceable habitats and the mental health of our residents, who benefit from access to unspoiled nature. Our public utilities and policymakers should serve the people and future generations, not the fossil fuel industry.
We call on Arizona's public utilities and elected officials to:
Arizona should be a leader in solar and renewable energy, not a monument to outdated, polluting infrastructure. The time to act is now. Our children and grandchildren are counting on us.
