Demand a Ceasefire and True Security Guarantees for Ukraine

As the US government engages in negotiations with Ukraine, Russia, and European leaders, we are concerned that a peace deal is being pursued without first securing a ceasefire. Continued fighting means more lives lost, communities destroyed, and instability across the region.

While recent diplomatic progress is welcome, any agreement that does not guarantee Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the safety of its people is unacceptable. The reference to 'Article 5-like protection' is encouraging, but the details remain unclear and must be made transparent and enforceable.

We urge US leaders to:

• Insist on an immediate ceasefire as a non-negotiable first step.
• Ensure that any security guarantees for Ukraine are public, binding, and backed by international law.
• Reject any concessions that legitimize the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territory.
• Prioritize the voices and needs of Ukrainian civil society in all negotiations.

Peace must be just, not just expedient. Stand with the people of Ukraine and demand a fair, lasting solution.
