Target: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Punjab State Government
Goal: We call on the Punjab government to guarantee transparent, farmer-led land policy making, halt all attempts at land acquisition without consent, and deliver on promises to support women and marginalized communities.
For too long, Punjab’s farmers and rural communities have been sidelined while governments push controversial land and agricultural policies without genuine consultation. The now-withdrawn land pooling policy, criticized across party lines, is just one example of how decisions are made without proper input from those most affected.
Farmers are the backbone of Punjab’s economy and culture. Yet, they face uncertainty, broken promises, and policies that threaten their land security. The government must stop treating Punjab’s resources as a political ATM and instead prioritize the well-being of its people.
We demand that all future land and agricultural policies be developed transparently, with farmers, laborers, and marginalized communities at the center of decision-making. The government must also fulfill its promise of direct support to women and ensure that no land is acquired or repurposed without free, prior, and informed consent from affected communities.
