Target: UK Government, Labour Party leadership, British trade unions
Goal: We call on the UK government, the Labour Party, and trade unions to reject further military escalation, support genuine peace negotiations, and redirect resources from warfare to welfare.
The Alaska talks have opened the door to a real peace process in Ukraine, with provisional agreements that could end the war and respect the rights of all communities involved. Yet, powerful interests in the West—driven by a supremacist ideology and the pursuit of global dominance—continue to push for military escalation and undermine diplomatic solutions.
In the UK, the government and Labour leadership have committed to doubling the military budget and providing billions in military aid to Ukraine, even as public services, welfare, and infrastructure suffer from chronic underfunding. This approach not only fuels conflict abroad but also deepens the crisis of living standards at home.
We believe that peace, not perpetual war, is the path to security and prosperity. Trade unions and the labour movement have a duty to inform their members and the public about the real costs of militarism and to champion the principle of 'welfare not warfare.'
We urge all those who care about peace, justice, and social progress to join us in demanding a shift in priorities: from military escalation to meaningful diplomacy, from weapons to welfare, and from division to solidarity.
