Target: President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European leaders (France, Germany, UK), NATO Secretary-General, and U.S. Secretary of State
Goal: To ensure that peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are conducted transparently, with full participation from all relevant stakeholders, and without coercion or exclusion of Ukraine’s elected representatives.
The ongoing war in Ukraine has caused immense suffering and instability, not only in Ukraine but across Europe and the world. As leaders gather in Washington, D.C. to discuss pathways to peace, it is crucial that these talks do not sideline Ukraine’s interests or the voices of those most affected by the conflict.
Recent summits have raised concerns about the exclusion of Ukraine’s leadership from key discussions, and about the risk of pressure being placed on Ukraine to accept unfavorable terms. We call on all parties to prioritize a fair and just peace process that centers Ukrainian sovereignty, human rights, and democratic participation.
Peace cannot be imposed from above or behind closed doors. Any agreement must be reached transparently, with the active involvement of Ukraine’s government and civil society, and with respect for international law. We urge European, American, and NATO leaders to stand firm against any attempt to railroad Ukraine into a deal that undermines its security or future in Europe.
