Target: President Vladimir Putin and the Government of the Russian Federation
Goal: We call on President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government to immediately return all Ukrainian children taken without consent, and to comply with international law regarding the protection of children in conflict zones.
Recent diplomatic efforts have failed to secure a ceasefire or meaningful protection for children affected by the war in Ukraine. While public letters and statements have called for the safeguarding of children's futures, there has been no concrete action to address the forced removal of Ukrainian children from their families and communities.
International law, including the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, prohibits the abduction and forced relocation of children during armed conflict. The Ukrainian government and international observers have compared these actions to war crimes and acts of genocide.
We urge the Russian government to take immediate steps to return all Ukrainian children to their families, facilitate independent investigations, and allow humanitarian organizations full access to affected regions. The world cannot remain silent while children are separated from their loved ones and their futures put at risk.
