Target: United States Congress, Department of Homeland Security, President of Mexico, Mexican Secretariat of the Interior
Goal: We call on the governments of the United States and Mexico to protect the rights of deported immigrants, ensure their safe reintegration, and end the criminalization and stigmatization of deportees.
Deported immigrants like Annie Garcia, Francisco Hernández-Corona, and Olga Mijangos are shining a light on the realities of life after deportation. Many were brought to the U.S. as children, built lives and families, and contributed to their communities, only to be uprooted by aggressive deportation policies. Upon return to Mexico, they often face poverty, discrimination, and danger, yet they persist in rebuilding their lives and supporting one another.
Despite these hardships, deportees are using their voices to challenge stigma and inspire hope. Their stories reveal the urgent need for humane immigration policies, cross-border support, and a commitment to human rights. We must demand an end to policies that tear families apart and instead invest in programs that help deported individuals thrive.
We urge policymakers to listen to deported immigrants, protect their rights, and provide the resources they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and opportunity.
