The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in immense suffering, displacement, and loss of life. As world leaders gather in Washington, the pressure to accept a ceasefire that cedes Ukrainian territory to Russia is mounting. Such a deal would embolden future acts of aggression and send a dangerous message that borders can be changed by force.
We stand with the people of Ukraine and call on all negotiators to:
- Reject any agreement that legitimizes Russia's occupation or annexation of Ukrainian land.
- Ensure that any peace process is led by Ukraine and respects its territorial integrity.
- Maintain and strengthen international support and security guarantees for Ukraine.
- Hold Russia accountable for war crimes and violations of international law.
- Support humanitarian aid and the rights of all displaced and affected people.
Peace must be based on justice and respect for sovereignty—not on rewarding aggression. We call on world leaders to act with courage and principle in these critical negotiations.
