Target: President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelensky, and all U.S. peace negotiators
Goal: Ensure that peace negotiations between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia prioritize Ukrainian self-determination, human rights, and justice for war victims.
With President Trump and President Zelensky set to meet in Washington, D.C. to discuss the future of Ukraine, we urge all parties to recognize that true peace cannot be achieved without justice and the full participation of those most affected by the war. Any agreement must not be a backroom deal between powerful leaders, but a transparent process that includes Ukrainian civil society, displaced persons, and victims of violence.
We are deeply concerned that previous negotiations with Russia have failed to secure a meaningful ceasefire or address the root causes of the conflict. A rushed or superficial agreement risks entrenching injustice, legitimizing aggression, and abandoning those who have suffered most. Only a comprehensive peace process—grounded in international law, accountability, and the voices of ordinary Ukrainians—can bring a lasting end to the violence.
We call on President Trump, President Zelensky, and all negotiators to commit to these principles and ensure that any peace deal upholds the dignity, rights, and agency of the Ukrainian people.
