Target: President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelensky, European Leaders, and the United Nations
Goal: Ensure that any peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are fully transparent, uphold international law, include Ukrainian civil society, and do not force unjust territorial concessions.
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned by reports that a proposed peace deal between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine could involve Ukraine ceding further territory in Donbass to Russia in exchange for a ceasefire and security guarantees. Such a deal, negotiated behind closed doors and without the meaningful participation of Ukrainian civil society, risks legitimizing aggression, undermining international law, and setting a dangerous precedent for future conflicts.
Peace in Ukraine must not come at the cost of justice, democracy, and the rights of those most affected by war. Any negotiations must be transparent, inclusive, and respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity as recognized by international law. The voices of Ukrainian citizens, especially those from affected regions, must be central to any peace process.
We call on all parties to reject any deal that imposes unjust territorial concessions and to ensure that negotiations are guided by principles of justice, democracy, and human rights.
