Target: President of the United States, US Department of State, US Congress
Goal: Ensure that any peace process between the US, Russia, and Ukraine is transparent, inclusive of civil society and impacted communities, and prioritizes human rights and justice.
The recent meeting between President Trump and President Putin, as well as communications with President Zelenskyy and European leaders, have highlighted the urgent need for a genuine peace process to end the war in Ukraine. While leaders discuss the possibility of a peace agreement, history has shown that top-down deals often fail to deliver lasting peace unless they are transparent and include the voices of those most affected by conflict.
We call on US leaders to ensure that any negotiations or agreements are not made behind closed doors. The people of Ukraine, civil society organizations, and communities impacted by the war must have a seat at the table. Peace cannot be built on secrecy or at the expense of justice and accountability. The United States must use its influence to promote a peace process that upholds human rights, international law, and the self-determination of the Ukrainian people.
We urge the administration to commit to a transparent, inclusive, and just peace process, and to reject any agreement that undermines the rights and safety of those most affected by this conflict.
