The U.S. State Department has abruptly halted all visitor visas for individuals from Gaza, including children and civilians in desperate need of medical attention. This decision, apparently influenced by political pressure and misinformation, directly endangers lives and violates the principles of compassion and human rights that the United States has long claimed to uphold.
Organizations like HEAL Palestine have been instrumental in providing critical medical care to Gazans, evacuating children for surgeries, prosthetics, and rehabilitation not available in their war-torn homeland. Blocking access to the U.S. for these humanitarian purposes is unconscionable. These are not security threats—they are victims of violence, many of them children, seeking only the chance to heal.
We urge the State Department to reverse this policy, reaffirm its commitment to humanitarian values, and resist the influence of those who would use fear and xenophobia to dictate immigration policy. Lives are at stake. The United States must not turn its back on the most vulnerable.
