Target: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, President of the United States, and Members of Congress

Goal: We call on the Department of Health and Human Services, the White House, and Congress to enact meaningful reforms to our food and farming systems, invest in public health, and protect children and families from harmful chemicals and unhealthy foods.

The recently leaked draft of the 'Make America Healthy Again' (MAHA) report fails to call for the bold, systemic changes needed to improve the health of America's children and communities. Instead of addressing the root causes of chronic disease—such as unhealthy diets, chemical exposure, and underfunded nutrition programs—the report recommends more studies and awareness campaigns, while ignoring the urgent need for policy reform and investment.

The health of our nation is at a crossroads. Chronic diseases caused by poor diet, chemical exposure, and lack of access to healthy food are on the rise, especially among children. Yet the latest 'Make America Healthy Again' report fails to recommend the transformative policies needed to address these crises. Instead, it calls for further study and public relations campaigns that do little to change the status quo.

Meanwhile, funding for vital nutrition programs has been slashed, and the report sidesteps calls to regulate pesticides, herbicides, and ultraprocessed foods that are harming our communities. Our children deserve better. We demand immediate action to overhaul food and farming policies, prioritize public health, and invest in programs that make healthy food accessible to all.

It is time to put people over profits and ensure that every child and family has access to safe, nutritious food and a healthy environment.

Key Demands

Restore and expand funding for food banks, school nutrition programs, and direct procurement of healthy food from local farmers.
Implement strict regulations on the use of harmful pesticides, herbicides, and ultraprocessed food additives in the food supply.
Ban or significantly reduce the use of high-fructose corn syrup and other unhealthy sweeteners in foods served in schools and hospitals.
Increase investment in public health and nutrition research, with a focus on prevention and equity.
Ensure transparency and public input in all future health and food policy reports and decisions.
Protect the budgets of the National Institutes of Health and other agencies vital to public health research and action.
