Recent developments—including the US government's imposition of steep tariffs on Indian exports—have exposed the dangers of over-reliance on Western markets. These tariffs threaten millions of Indian jobs, especially in agriculture and manufacturing, and put pressure on already vulnerable communities.

India's initial concerns about RCEP—protecting farmers, workers, and small businesses—are valid and must be addressed. However, by negotiating robust safeguards and fair terms, India can join RCEP on its own terms, ensuring that economic integration benefits all, not just large corporations.
We urge the government to act in the national interest by prioritizing regional cooperation, defending the livelihoods of ordinary Indians, and ensuring that growth is both inclusive and sustainable.
