End Harmful Tariffs: Demand Fair Trade and Economic Justice

Recent court proceedings have cast doubt on the legality of the Trump administration's reciprocal tariffs, which were enacted under the International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA). The administration has responded with apocalyptic warnings, claiming that overturning these tariffs would trigger a new Great Depression, threaten Social Security and Medicare, and devastate American families.

In reality, these tariffs have generated only a fraction of the promised revenue, while sowing chaos for working people, small businesses, and global relationships. The administration’s own arguments reveal the fragility of a policy that relies on questionable legal authority and fear tactics instead of transparent, democratic decision-making.

We reject the politics of fear and demand a new approach to trade that puts people and communities first.
