Demand a Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine: No Deals Without Ukrainian Sovereignty

The ongoing war in Ukraine has caused immense suffering, displacement, and loss of life. As President Trump and President Zelensky meet in Washington, D.C., there is an opportunity to push for a genuine, just peace. However, peace cannot come at the expense of Ukraine's sovereignty or the rights of its people. Past ceasefire agreements have failed because they did not address the root causes of the conflict or hold aggressors accountable.

We are concerned that any 'Peace Agreement' negotiated behind closed doors or under pressure from foreign powers could result in unjust territorial concessions or undermine Ukraine’s right to self-determination. The Ukrainian people must not be forced to accept a deal that legitimizes aggression or rewards violations of international law.

We call on President Trump, President Zelensky, and all negotiators to ensure that any agreement:

• Centers the voices and needs of Ukrainians, including refugees and civil society.
• Rejects any forced territorial concessions or legitimization of occupation.
• Holds perpetrators of war crimes accountable and upholds international law.
• Provides for reparations and support for those affected by the war.

Peace must mean justice, accountability, and respect for human rights—not just the absence of fighting. We demand a transparent, inclusive process that leads to a truly just and lasting peace.
